Industry
Some of the key industries include: Light metals smelting, tourism, aquaculture, metals fabrication and machining. The Port of Gladstone is Queensland’s largest multi-commodity port and permits a wide range of shipping operations including bulk carrier loading and unloading, fuel loading facilities and a dedicated container terminal.
Restaurants
Restaurants are either independent or associated with the city's motels and hotels. There are excellent dining spots throughout Gladstone City to suit a variety of tastes and budgets.
With quality reef fish, huge prawns and succulent sea scallops, bugs and oysters, the Gladstone Region is a seafood lover's paradise. In fact, one of the taste delicacies of the region is defined as the Gladstone mud crab, with this tasty crustacean the feature of many a menu. They are fantastic places to make new friends and get down with the locals. For an auditorium experience, head to the Gladstone Entertainment Centre. The 700 seat theatre is the perfect place to see performances by local and visiting artists, stage shows and concerts in comfort.
Family Activities
Gladstone is one of Australia's busiest harbours. This stunning region offers convenient access to the natural paradises of Heron Island and the Great Barrier Reef, as well as the Tandoon Botanic Gardens.
Spinnaker Park was officially opened in 2001 and the park has become the premier recreation area of our city. 2.5 kilometres of educational walking tracks along the ocean wall, through native wetlands and ponds makes the park excellent for walking, riding or rollerblading.
The beached cove is wonderful for a dip on a warm day while the barbeque and picnic areas make it a great place to entertain. Just down the road, is the world-class Gladstone Marina; landscaped foreshores with barbeque and picnic shelters make the Marina a beautiful day out. Wander along the walking paths to the mouth of Auckland Creek and if you’re lucky watch the dolphins play on the incoming tide.
Entertainment
Gladstone entertainment centre offers it all from live bands, stand-up comedy, musicals, function rooms and events. The centre is fully functional for conferences, meetings, weddings and many other social or business functions.
